Like Menards, Home depot delivers nationwide and they have various delivery options. This includes standard delivery, priority delivery (1 – 3 days), expedited delivery, and express delivery . Not every item in Menards is available for this service but it does cover a large number of products.
They also offer a text contact option and the store finder lets you see the contact details for each Home Depot outlet. They do also offer a help center on their website where you can find out answers to common questions such as shipping, returns, and other information. Menards allow you to contact them via email or you can contact the individual store if you need to take it up with them directly. It is pretty easy to use their store locator and find contact details for each department. You will no doubt have heard of both Menards and Home Depot as they are pretty big home improvement chains.

The eavelight was a much more cost effective option than adding in actual windows. Aesthetically, we think it looks really good, and the panels were really easy to install. The eavelight is what Menards calls Pro-Sky Panels – they’re basically clear polycarbonate panels shaped with ridges that align with the steel panels.
Yes, 18 feet is enough to park the tractor underneath. But, we’ve still ended up using it for our pickup sometimes. It’s annoying, but if we had picked any other project type, the cost would’ve been thousands more.

At the time of purchase, we received the parts list on a printed estimate from Menards, that had labels for the lumber. This was the only document that had the labels & locations of the individual boards – and that info was really helpful later. The plans are a pretty critical part of the build. We felt that the plans & information provided was good, but not great.
You’re responsible for the information you supply it. It’s actually a product anybody can buy at Menards. If you’re considering a post frame building kit, but are wondering if it’ll be too difficult, I highly recommend buying the booklet first. As of writing, it’s only $7.99 – a worthwhile investment compared to the cost of a kit. If you go on to buy a kit, just remove the booklet from your order before checking out. We could create exactly what we needed, and see the price change depending on our choices. It made it easier to balance budget with trying to get as much space as possible. This whole project began because we needed a place to park our tractor over the winter.
There’s about a 3.5 foot height difference along the length of the building. As mentioned above, we received the plans a few days after ordering our materials. Because we had the plans early, we started digging the holes for our posts well before the materials arrived. At delivery, we received a full materials list / inventory, and the post frame building instructions booklet… . It’s fairly simple to use the Menard’s tools to design your project, but you do have to start out by choosing the right building type first. Your choices within the software will be dictated by the building type you choose at the very beginning.
Picking and choosing aspects of certain plans was appealing, but we weren’t sure how to do that while keeping the building structurally sound. Building something from a plan that exists was do-able. Despite not planning to house animals (at least not long-term) in the building, we settled on a loafing shed style, because it was a relatively easy build. The fact that one side is open, and it doesn’t have a gable roof, helps to keep costs down compared to a normal barn or shed with the same footprint. They also offer assembly services if you don’t fancy building furniture yourself. They have a Consumer Credit Card which offers 6 months of interest-free finance on purchases of $299 or more.
You can apply for credit with their RedCard while there are also both iOS and Android apps so you can shop online too. Their apps don’t have the full range of functionality as Menards and Home depot but they are ideal for finding what you need and making a purchase. Menards, even though their physical stores are geographically limited, ship nationwide and they even ship to Canada as well. They have the option to buy a product online and pick it up at a Menards store if one is close by to your location. You can choose to go to a Menards Store and choose to get the items from the shelf yourself or pay a small fee and your order will be ready at the store. Ultimately, using the kit was much easier than trying to design & order everything all ourselves.
